These pads are not tied to a tempo, chord progression or time signature, works great in any situation.
e.g. Play the A pad and play along any song that’s in the key of A, and since these pads are not tied to a tempo or time signature, you can play a faster song or a slow one or switch from 4/4 to 6/8
Coming from a classical music background, I was initially hesitant to use ambient pads. You know the deal, “I’m classically trained, so everything should be played live, by a human being!” However, after playing 2nd keys on a couple of occasions at my church, and literally only playing 6-8 notes per song, I realized I could get the same effect with an ambient pad which leaves me free to cover other instruments and/or sing and lead with less on my plate. I now own 3 pad collections from That Worship Sound – Motion Pads, Cello Pads, and Mellow Pads. They were purposely chosen because of the musical ground I can cover with them. The Mellow Pads are just that – mellow, less depth, without calling too much attention to itself. It’s great for adding that little layer in the background of a quiet, mellow (There’s that word again!) song, especially at the beginning and end of the track. It basically disappears in the middle of the song, which is exactly what I was looking for. Because it’s less sonically dense compared to the Motion Pads collection, it also lends itself well to solo and duos, with guitar or piano only accompaniment.
